Wow! A really nice task number 11 and of course I want to participate in this new challenge. I didn't have to think to long about the content because I'm always using many applications at the same time. The special here is, that when I'm at home, I use my Fujitsu 27" display as a second screen. This is neccessary because I couldn't manage all my applications otherwise. But please check out my description now.
As mentioned above I'm alsways using two screens at home so that I can manage all my applications in a much easier way. With two screens you've mostly enough space to get a better overview of you work. My Fujitsu T900 tablet is always really busy (so I'm) because it has a hard job to do as you can see in the screenshot. I'm running a few blogs on the web including technical blogs where I write about Home Servers and also about tablet PC's. For that reason I need to watch videos but also record videos. When I'm testing new applications (Add-Ins) for my Home Server Blog, I'm always using a virtualization software from VMware, for running a second, virtual operating system instance on my laptop. You can see that in the screenshots in the right lower corner. There is a full second OS running. This is really cool! I can install the applications I want to test in the virtual machine and can just reset it when I've finished. But this takes a lot of ressources from my hardware as you can guess. The Windows Task Manager (also in the screenshot) always shows me how many CPU and memory ressources are taken or available. But blogging and testing software are just some tasks I'm doing at the same time. I'm also a communication and social network junkie. In my browser I'm using a lot of websites including Facebook and other social networks like Twitter. But mostly I'm using TweetDeck, a nice and funky Web 2.0 app for tweeting. Instant messaging applications are also important to me because it is cheap for example to call people abroad. Wow! How would my phone bill look like when I wouldn't use Skype and Windows Live Messenger? Well this is all fun but I also use the T900 for real work. ;-)
My wife and me are in the process of building a house! I can tell you, this is not an easy task. You need to manage a lot of things at the same time. This is not only multi-tasking for the laptop but also for our brains! The Fujitsu T900 helps a lot here. We can take photos with the digital camera at the building site and see them in full size on the laptop. But we can also send them to our family and friends so that they share our experiences.
Because I'm travelling a lot with my job, I've to do route/travel planning a few times a week. For that I'm using Google Maps and Google Earth with StreetView. This is awesome! I can check the area around a hotel before I'm booking it. Of course is StreetView a great invention because it very often saves me from bad experience areas.
As you can see, my laptop and me are always busy!
